2nd Annual Child Identification Program

On Sunday, April 13, 2008, Lindner Dental Associates will be co-sponsoring the 2nd annual comprehensive Child Identification Program (CHIPS) in conjunction with the New Hampshire Freemasons (Washington Lodge No. 61) and the Bedford Police Department from 10:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Hampshire Place, 72 South River Road, Bedford.

At this CHIPS event, we will generate individual completed child identification kits.  These completed kits are given to the parents to take home for safe keeping.  The kit will include a brief video disk interview, fingerprints, and a Toothprint of the child.  The CHIPS interview captures the appearance, mannerisms and other characteristics of the child.  The fingerprints are a well-known means of identification.  The Toothprint provides a simple way of documenting tooth characteristics and bite.  According to Peter Banks, Director of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, when a Toothprint is taken, sufficient proteins in the saliva remain on the wafer from which a DNA test can be successfully performed at a later date.  Parents are given completed kits and are reminded to take the kit on trips and vacations.  This completed kit can be immediately provided to authorities to aid in the recovery of a missing child.

CHIPS events increase abduction awareness and discourage would-be predators from considering our community.  This program is an opportunity to keep children safe.  Over 200 children participated in the 2007 program.

For more information on the Child Identification Program, please contact Amy Browning at Lindner Dental Associates, PC (603) 624-3900.
